Paper Hugs is a platform that helps people send handwritten letters of encouragement to individuals experiencing loneliness through trusted partner organizations.
By accessing or using our website or services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Paper Hugs.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old or have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use our Services.
You agree that all information you provide is accurate and current.
2. Our Service
Paper Hugs allows customers to purchase Paper Hug credits that can be redeemed to create handwritten letters.
Letters are delivered through participating organizations including senior communities, hospitals, veteran organizations, hospice providers, military organizations, and other approved partners.
Recipients remain anonymous.
Paper Hugs cannot guarantee which individual receives a specific letter.
3. Paper Hug Credits
Purchased Paper Hug credits may be used to send handwritten letters through our platform.
Unless otherwise stated:
- Credits do not expire.
- Credits are non-transferable.
- Credits have no cash value.
Paper Hugs may change future pricing at any time.
4. Acceptable Content
Paper Hugs exists to spread kindness.
Messages must be respectful, encouraging, and appropriate.
You may not submit content that includes:
- Hate speech
- Harassment
- Threats
- Obscene or sexually explicit material
- Illegal content
- Political campaigning
- Medical or legal advice
- Commercial advertising
- Personal contact information
- Requests for recipients to contact you
Every message is reviewed before fulfillment.
Paper Hugs reserves the right to reject or decline any submission that violates these guidelines.
5. Fulfillment
Paper Hugs reviews each message before it is prepared for handwriting and mailing.
Delivery estimates are not guaranteed.
Mail delivery depends on third-party fulfillment providers, postal services, and participating organizations.
Paper Hugs cannot guarantee a specific delivery date.
6. Recipient Privacy
To protect privacy:
- Recipient identities are never shared.
- Senders cannot request recipient information.
- Recipients cannot directly respond to senders.
Partner organizations determine which individuals receive each Paper Hug.
7. Payments
Payments are securely processed through Stripe.
Paper Hugs never stores complete payment card information.
All prices are shown in U.S. Dollars.
8. Subscriptions
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled.
You may cancel at any time.
Cancellation prevents future renewals only.
Paper Hug credits already granted remain in your account.
9. Refund Policy
Unused Paper Hug credits that have not entered fulfillment may be eligible for a refund at our discretion.
Once a message has been approved for handwriting or submitted for fulfillment, it is generally no longer eligible for a refund.
Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under applicable law.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on Paper Hugs, including our name, branding, logos, software, graphics, text, and designs, is owned by Paper Hugs or its licensors.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute our content without written permission.
11. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
12. Service Availability
We work hard to keep Paper Hugs available.
However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may suspend or modify the Services for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.
13. No Guarantee
Paper Hugs exists to encourage meaningful human connection.
While we hope every letter brings comfort, we cannot guarantee any particular emotional response or outcome.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Paper Hugs is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services.
Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid to Paper Hugs during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
15. Force Majeure
Paper Hugs is not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including postal disruptions, natural disasters, labor disputes, government actions, internet outages, or failures of third-party providers.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the Services.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time.
Updated Terms become effective when posted on this website.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any legal action arising from these Terms or the Services shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
You consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
